Germany’s largest dairy cooperative, DMK, managed to attract new members last year. The milk processor reports this with the provisional figures for 2025, although it is not stated how many dairy farmers have joined.

DMK’s milk price averaged 51.4 cents per kg in 2025. A year earlier, this was 47.31 cents per kg of milk. The company’s net profit fell slightly to €24.2 million. Revenue rose from €5.1 billion to €5.3 billion.

CEO Ingo Müller attributes these results to the company’s strategy. “We have strengthened our market position, achieved a competitive payout price for our dairy farmers, and taken important steps towards a more sustainable future,” said Müller.

Outlook 2026

For 2026, DMK initially anticipates a persistently challenging market environment. Dairy factories are operating at full capacity, which puts pressure on the raw materials market, particularly at the beginning of the year. Meanwhile, the first signs of stabilisation are visible for key dairy products.

DMK speaks of solid demand on the European market and a strong international competitive position. Supply and demand on the dairy market will gradually balance out over the course of the year, although geopolitical uncertainties and high production levels remain risks that could lead to significant price fluctuations.

Merging, expanding, investing

Last year, DMK invested in the construction of a new ripening warehouse for natural cheese in Hoogeveen. In addition, production capacity was expanded at 2 German locations. The dairy company describes these as crucial steps for the production of more value-added products and the improvement of international competitiveness.

For DMK, this year is largely dominated by the merger with Arla Foods. This requires awaiting approval from the relevant authorities. DMK expects this process to be completed in the first half of 2026.
