While skimmed milk concentrate saw a slight recovery in recent weeks in the Dutch market, it has now dropped back to €1.10 per kg.

Prices for product traded around Christmas are even falling below €1. Trading is expected to remain brisk until mid-December, but after that, the market will quiet down, and unfavourable conditions during the holiday season are likely to push prices down further.

Stability, or a further price fall?

Currently, the skimmed milk powder market is relatively stable, with the average price hovering around €2,000 per tonne. The €2,000 level also appears to be forming a price floor on the futures market. However, some traders are convinced the price can fall even further. Powder production has ramped up significantly. While demand for direct delivery on the butter market isn’t all that bad, demand is slowly drying up.

Young Gouda is dropping to €2.90 per kg, which is also the price for mozzarella. A price decline is expected for the first month of 2026. But first, cheese needs to survive the December trade unscathed. Forecast: price pressure on most dairy products.
